WhatTheFont comes to iPhone

Font foundry Bitstream has released an iPhone version of its handy WhatTheFont application for identifying typefaces.

If you see a font you like but don’t recognise, take a photo with the phone using the app’s built-in grabber, then upload it to the WhatTheFont website for analysis.

Bitstream says the result will be returned in seconds, with, naturally, a link to page on Bitstream’s MyFonts store where you can buy the font.

The software can also be used to identify fonts in images saved from applications or already stored in the device’s photo library, so it also has some purpose on the iPod touch.

WhatTheFont is a free download from the iTunes App Store
